We know you are crazy about Taiwan, and that’s why you are visiting this page. But here is a chance for you to show that you care more than just about bubble tea, stinky tofu and karaoke!

Given her astonishing economic growth and as home to the leading high-tech industry, it’s hard to believe that Taiwan was suppressed under the longest martial law in the world: nearly 40 years. It was only 14 years ago that Taiwan held its first democratic and free presidential elections. With her young democratic and vibrant society, Taiwan has made countless contributions to the world in areas such as medicine and technology. Yet, Taiwan joins the rank with rogue nations like Cuba, North Korea and Iran that are not recognized by the U.S. Furthermore, concerns about the Communist Chinese government’s continuing military threat and its relentless efforts to suppress Taiwan’s international participation undermines Taiwan’s identity and dignity as a nation.

Now here is a perfect opportunity to translate your passion and support for Taiwan into action! Join us for a weekend-long conference where you will meet similar-minded people, learn more about U.S.-Taiwan-China relations, master the ABCs of advocacy, and apply what you learn the following Monday on Capitol Hill by meeting with your elected officials to advocate for Taiwan’s cause!

If you are a Taiwanese national, it is understandable why you care about Taiwan. You still have the opportunity to influence American policy makers by voicing your opinions and fighting for your beloved home country.

If you are Taiwanese American, “Taiwan” is the most solid bond you share with your family members and relatives. It is your responsibility to speak out for what you believe in and bring about a change in outdated policies.

If you do not fit into either of the above categories, your advocacy for Taiwan is just as important because you will make a lasting impression on American lawmakers by showing them that you care about Taiwan as well!

FAPA covers most of your lodging and meals (see “application form” for more details), so you only need to cover your transportation costs to/from Washington DC. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to make a difference for Taiwan!
