Bill Info

What Does This Bill Do?

  • The “Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act” (H.R.7521) would ban TikTok in the U.S. unless TikTok’s parent company, China’s ByteDance, sells the TikTok app.
  • We Taiwanese Americans are very concerned that TikTok could manifest itself as a very valuable tool for authoritarian China if it decides to go ahead and move towards attempting to annex Taiwan.
  • With the Administration having put its support behind H.R.7521, we look forward to swift passage of the bill and enactment into law in order to protect the U.S.’ national security and interests, and counter China’s aggression in the Indo-Pacific region and beyond.
