新聞稿 – 2025年3月17日美國華盛頓哥倫比亞特區 連絡電話（美國）：202-600-6819 美參議院再推《台灣代表處法》 FAPA長年倡議正名，強化美國對台承認2025年3月12日，美國聯邦參議員匡希恆（John Curtis, R-UT）及莫克利（Jeff Merkley, D-OR）共同提出跨黨派的《台灣代表處法》（Taiwan Representative Office Act），呼籲將台灣駐美國的事實上大使館名稱，從「台北經濟文化代表處」改名為「台灣代表處」。台灣人公共事務會（FAPA）長期推動「台灣代表處正名」，旨在深化台美關係、落實美國長期以「台灣」稱呼台灣的政策實踐、並提升美國對台灣主權獨立的實質承認。FAPA會長林素梅博士表示：「FAPA長年致力於推動將『台北經濟文化代表處』（Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office, TECRO）正名為『台灣代表處』（Taiwan Representative Office, TRO），以更準確地反映並尊重台灣的獨立國格與國家認同。數十年來，FAPA積極倡議此變革，並與美國國會議員密切合作，提出並推動相關立法，以早日實現這一重要目標。」「台灣代表處正名」的早期倡議與《台灣政策法》二十多年前，在FAPA的推動下，多位美國聯邦眾議員分別多次致函當時的台灣總統陳水扁，表達支持將「台北經濟文化代表處」更名為「台灣代表處」。參與致函的議員包括：2002年4月：眾議員吳振偉（David…
