Why Is It Important?
The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) “Economic Leaders’ Meeting” will take place in San Francisco, California, from November 15-17, 2023.
As the host nation, the United States has the prerogative to invite participants to the 2023 APEC Leaders’ Summit. With the passage of the Taiwan Travel Act of 2018, there are no restrictions on Taiwan President Tsai traveling anywhere in the United States. It is also consistent with U.S. policy to support Taiwan’s participation in international organizations and forums like APEC.
This petition requests your Representative to co-sponsor H.Con.Res.71 calling upon the Biden Administration to invite Taiwan President Tsai to attend the upcoming APEC Summit in San Francisco on an equal footing with leaders of other APEC member states.
