This petition requests members of Congress to urge Secretary of State Antony Blinken to formally invite Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen to attend the 2023 Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) leaders’ summit in San Francisco, California.
The Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) “Economic Leaders’ Meeting” will take place in San Francisco, California, from November 15-17, 2023.
As the host nation, the United States has the prerogative to invite participants to the 2023 APEC leaders’ summit. With the passage of the Taiwan Travel Act of 2018, there are no restrictions on President Tsai traveling anywhere in the United States. It is also consistent with U.S. policy to support Taiwan’s participation in international organizations and forums like APEC.
This petition to your Representative and two Senators asks these elected officials to contact Secretary of State Antony Blinken to invite President Tsai to attend the APEC summit in San Francisco.
